High Old Times
Out of Africa, Down Under
Thanks to Kamla Bhatt and Route79, I am supremely delighted to present my first video clip entry here. Hope you enjoy the African rhythms that I happened to chance upon while browzing at the Annual Crows Nest Fair last October.
Sydney is truly a multi-cultural city, notice the Scottish band member in kilt in the left edge of the video. It was a fun day, lots of stall food, prams, balloons, home made jams, bread, etc.

Wedding Party
I am back in India for a short interlude. It's the wedding season - here are a few snapshots of the groom being taken on a horse to the bride's home where the marriage ceremony will place.

A loud and colourful band precedes him and his entourage of relatives follow him on foot.

The band waits to start the cacophony while the groom is being seated on a horse.

A young family member is given the honour to ride with the groom on his horse.

Family members - ladies in gorgeous silk and brocade saris - follow the groom on foot.

Spaghetti in my Horoscope
I enjoy reading creative writing, but this piece below has me flummoxed. I can't figure it out because, besides being a recipe for spaghetti and sauce, it's my star sign forecast for this coming week which reads as follows, taken word for word from the Good Weekend magazine of the Sydney Morning Herald :
"Let the sauce simmer and plop for as long as you can. Then, when it's time to eat, pop on a big pot of salted, oiled water and bring to the boil. Toss in the spaghetti and titillate until al dente, using a fork to prevent fraternising between strands. Strain pasta and serve into bowls. Wallop spag sauce on top, caress with shaved parmesan, and devour soonest. Buon appetito."
Perhaps I'll be boiling spaghetti on my stove at some point this coming week, but I disagree with the bit on "oiled water", the trick I believe is serving spaghetti with a few splashes of extra virgin olive oil and water it's cooked in so that it absorbs the sauce without making it too gooey and sticky. Anyway, I am still trying to figure out the metaphors in my forecast and am not getting anywhere. I guess, I'd better stop thinking too much about it and instead, might as well look for a spaghetti packet in my kitchen cupboards.
Ciao!
